Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College (GSVMC) was founded under the guardianship of the Gonoshasthaya Institute of health sciences. This institute was approved in 1989 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

GSVMC is approved by the Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and affiliated with the University of Dhaka. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Education has approved the courses of Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College.

GSVMC with the help of the World Health Organization (WHO) has been included in AVICENNA Directories of Medicine University of Copenhagen (world directory of medical school).

GSVMC has four big academic hospitals of its own for the students to be familiar with the health problems of poor people living in urban and rural areas. The hospitals are – the first one at Savar, the second one at Dhanmondi, the third one at Gazipur, and the fourth one has recently started its operation in Pabna at Kashinathpur. Another high-quality hospital in Gaibandha has been established. Moreover, 17 primary health centers are situated in different places of Bangladesh.

Through the judgment of ideal and scientific method education atmospheres, Departmental laboratory, Multimedia, and computer-assisted education system, and updated clinical thinning facility, the Gonoshasthaya Samajy Vittik Medical College could expect the best prefer among all govt. and none govt. medical college of the county. Now more than 500 students are studying in this college. On-campus, well furnished and secured Hostel facilities are available for foreign students.
